The Death of James
James inhaled, but nothing filled his lungs except water. His eyes were blurred in the blueness. His hands grabbed the dirt bottom, desecrating the spot, and a fullness filled his insides as he fell into unconsciousness.
The undisturbed ocean carried on its death ignoring sway.
As James awoke, remnants of water dissolved into gas. The ocean floor was now of different terrain. Black, rocky cliff was beneath him, burning his flesh away. His skin boiled to a dark red. He was left to watch his body steam. He lapsed into unconsciousness and awoke only through blinks. Rapidly his eyes twitched open to see a land of red with blackened cliffs and pungent red clouds, ever growing in mass.
He lay a feeble red creature, writing in pain as he body flared in pain. A face dipped to floor level to meet his eyes. Upon opening to blink, a horned demon face reached out two plump fingers and scraped James eyes out. He lost consciousness and woke with blurry eyes. Red rain fell from the great clouds above. It splashed to his body. He turned his frigid neck to peer at his body, but only saw cracked bones with muscle sliding over them, trying to find structure. He tried to find patterns and images in the red clouded sky, only to feel his skull obliterate with immense downward pressure.
His eyes opened anew. The rain had stopped. People appeared in his view. Brown-blackened skin covered their bodies. Their twisted veins looked strained enough to snap. They walked in a slow pace, dragging themselves almost unwillingly. They pathetically moped across his vision like drugged lepers. An axe blade sliced through one’s neck. Stomping forward, a massive wide shouldered demon charged forth. Their heads flew off without effort. Their bodiless heads rolled across the path as their bodies lay dormant. The large demon stopped at James, and picked him up by the skull alone. His bony body swayed below with control of his limbs. The demon stared with his black eyes into James’ blue. The axe came quicker than James could see. The demon’s eyes never moved. James’ body dropped. The demon reached back and threw his head skyward. The wind tore at his eyes and dislodged them. His ears exploded and his brain scattered away into the clouds.
